Our Story

BEFORE BEAU’S BITES, THERE WERE TWO SISTERS IN A KITCHEN.

Beau preparing homemade granola

More than ten years ago, I was living with my sister when she decided we were going to start eating a little differently.

She did the research. She found wholesome foods. She cooked.

And I happily ate.

Those were good days. There’s something wonderful about having someone prepare a meal, put it in front of you, and all you have to do is enjoy it.

Somewhere along the way, my usual bowl of cornflakes was replaced by granola.

My sister taught me how to make it, and before long, I was making my own.

Then life got busy.

There wasn’t always time to make another batch, so I did what seemed obvious: I went to the store and bought some.

Except it didn’t taste like mine.

It was too sweet.

I tried other brands. I tried homemade varieties. But I kept coming back to the same thing—they were simply sweeter than I wanted.

I’ve never had much of a sweet tooth. Growing up, sweets weren’t a big part of the way we ate. I preferred the toasted flavour, the different textures and that satisfying crunch, with just enough sweetness to bring everything together.

So I went back to making my own.

And I kept making it.

In fact, even back then, I began thinking that perhaps this was something I could sell. I started preparing to do just that.

But life had other plans. I moved countries, and the idea was put aside.

The granola wasn’t.

Year after year, it remained part of my kitchen. I made it for myself and my family. I experimented with different ingredients, created different varieties, and somewhere along the way stopped thinking of granola as something that belonged only at breakfast.

I ate it by the handful. With yogurt. With peanut butter. Sprinkled over a salad. Even added to soup when I wanted a little crunch.

If I thought granola might work with something, I tried it.

Friends tried my granola too. They reached for it as a snack, enjoyed another handful and reminded me that this thing I had been quietly making for years might be something other people would enjoy too.

And an old idea began finding its way back.

What had started more than a decade earlier with two sisters in a kitchen had travelled with me through life and become something of my own.

Something I loved making.

Something people loved eating.

And something I was finally ready to share.

That became Beau’s Bites.

GRANOLA BEYOND THE BREAKFAST BOWL.
